Butter won’t sleep in his own bed.

I know he’s been having bad dreams. I know it’s been going on for a few weeks. I was not prepared for him to suddenly decide our bed is where he wants to sleep. Confession: we let him. Twice.

The past two nights, he’s slept on our floor.

I am presently hopeful that he’s in his own bed. I have a feeling he’s not.

I don’t know what to do. Have any of you had this issue? How have you solved it?

I’ll do pretty much anything at this point.

  1. I will be of absolutely no help at all, but I just want to let you know you are SO not alone. Alex has consistently slept with us now since September. SEPTEMBER. We can’t break it. It started with true fear, and then my crazy schedule, moving to a new house, starting a new school…we barely fight it these days. So, I have no advice. I can’t tell you how to fix it because I can’t fix it myself. Honestly, it’s okay. Sometimes kids need their parents, and that isn’t a bad thing. That he feels comfort with you is a good thing, ya know?

  2. I need my space when I sleep and need time to rejuvenate. I love my children dearly and deeply, but believe they too need their own space. I am all for snuggle time, but when it comes to sleeping, I will sooner drag my tired body down the hall to re-assure them or walk them back to their room, than let them sleep with me.
Habits are hard to break, but as the parent, you need to make a decision and stick with it. Good Luck!
