Well sometimes we don’t really notice
Just how good it can get
So maybe we should start all over
Start all over again
Once again, a song embedded itself in my head and just wouldn’t leave until I wrote about it. [And you’re being subjected to the acoustic version, because this is my favorite way to listen to it.]
The song is Someday, by Rob Thomas. Those of you who know me, know I’ve never hidden my love for Matchbox Twenty and Rob Thomas. I went to see him perform on the Today Show once. You guys know how I feel about NYC, right? [Fine, it’s growing on me. The more I go, the more I like it.]
This song is on that same album I saw him promoting, but he didn’t do it that day. [He did Her Diamonds, Streetcorner Symphony, and Lonely No More. Why do I remember that two and a half years later?] The first time I heard it, I’d just bought Cradlesong, and I’m pretty sure I burst into tears. If that isn’t a surefire sign of a good song, I don’t know what is.
It’s a song so full of hope.
That’s what made me cry.
