Flabbergasted.

Last week, I posted about being Three Weeks Post Op. I left it up for questions, and today at four weeks post op, I’m going to answer them to the best of my ability.

Shannon asked me:  How soon will you know if the surgery worked? Are they still going to have to do a second surgery? How are you feeling now in comparison to before the surgery? Is your pain from the surgery or are you still having migraines/headaches? [She also asked a ton of questions in my Ask Anything post that I never answered. Sorry, Shan. I should do that!]

So. Answers.

How soon will you know if the surgery worked? To be honest, I can’t answer that. Because Dr. Zager had to lay a piece of skull muscle on my brain instead of doing the direct bypass he wanted to do, it will take a bit longer. I think I remember something about 6-8 weeks. I have a follow up appointment with him on December 14. I don’t know whether he’s going to order another MRI/MRA [I’m putting this out there because I know Jill sometimes reads this – tell him he has to knock me out better. Valium didn’t work so well last time. Thank you in advance. ;)], but he probably will.

Are they still going to have to do a second surgery? Unfortunately, yes. This is my thrilled and excited to have my head cut open again face.

How are you feeling now in comparison to before the surgery? I get tired easily. I never had much patience with anyone when my head hurt before, but when it hurts now? I want to gouge someone’s eyes out.

Is your pain from the surgery or are you still having migraines/headaches? There’s a lot of tenderness around the incision site. I won’t lie, it’s irritating when I go to scratch my forehead and cringe away from my own hand but that’s a sign of healing, right? I still get headaches and they’re still on the left side mostly. I don’t know what’s causing that. Seems I have a few questions to ask Dr. Zager myself.

The most interesting thing I can think of? I still can’t lift my left eyebrow. Like, at all. I tell everyone I have unconventional botox.

@LaurieBick made me cry with her comment on that post. All I can say is I’m lucky to have the friends, both online and in real life, I do.

Anyone have any other questions?
