Family Time

For those of you who don’t know, I’m no longer considering myself a Restaurant Widow.

Because M is now working a job where he is able to be home for dinner more often than not. While he was working a lot of nights, I would mostly fix dinner for the kids, because often, I wasn’t hungry. In the past week, we’ve managed to cook and eat dinner several nights in a row.

I’m so glad to have him home.

If I’m being perfectly honest, I like being able to pass bedtime duties off on him. I really dislike giving the boys baths. I don’t like needing to wait until Little Bear goes to sleep to put Butter to bed, even though it affords me time to read books to Butter. I like not having to cook and clean up after dinner.

But honestly, I like having my husband at home for more than a few hours of awake time a day. Did that last sentence even make sense? I don’t care, it made sense in my head.

As I write this post, M is playing with the boys. He keeps pulling Little Bear away from my laptop. Butter is behind him, being the “most comfortable pillow ever.” He also just pulled M’s phone out of his pocket and started playing with it.

I’ve laughed more today than I can remember laughing in a long time.

I’m so glad to have my family back together.

  1. Aw, that’s wonderful! I’m so glad you guys have the evenings together now. My sister is a restaurant widow and I have heard her stories of how stressful it can be. So happy for you guys!

  2. That is amazing! Isn’t it wonderful to go from not having that time to having that time? Since I have been so lucky as to be working straight daylight hours since I started the new job, I have LOVED my evenings with the boys. I am going to be distraught to have to go back to working some evenings, but it will still be great to have some time 🙂 Glad you are loving it!
