Once upon a time, I thought I had a virus and imagined all of my photos were lost. That was, of course, before I’d bothered to download any of the new camera photos off of the camera on to my laptop, so I knew I had them on my old laptop available for transfer again if need be.
And then I got an actual virus that presented itself as an antivirus program. That was fun.
I have a much larger problem right now.
My laptop is kaput. It’s decided it doesn’t want to load Windows any more. I called Costco [where it was ordered from] and they helped me run a diagnostic on it this morning. I dreaded the words, “I hate to be the bearer of bad news . . . ” It’s entirely possible I burst into tears at that exact moment.
And then he told me I can save my data. I just need to find a person who is capable of doing that.
Enter my friend Amy’s Bryan. For very little cost to me, he’s going to come save as much of my data as possible.
I’ve learned my lesson.
I need a back up. And soon.
